Prof. Dongyan Xu is currently a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Prof. Xu received her Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D. degrees from Tsinghua University and Vanderbilt University. After that, she worked as a Postdoc Fellow at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the University of California, Berkeley for two years. She joined CUHK in 2010 as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2016 and Professor in 2022. Her current research interests include nanoscale thermal transport, thermal energy harvesting, boiling heat transfer, and flexible tactile and thermal sensing.

Ming Li obtained her B. Eng. degree (2016) in Materials Science and Engineering from Kunming University of Science and Technology. She joined the group as a PhD student in July 2019. Her current research focuses on studying thermal transport properties of low-dimensional materials.

Yanjun Du received her B.S. degree in Energy and Power Engineering in Xi’an Jiaotong University in 2018. In August 2019, she joined the group as a PhD student. Her current research focuses on microfluidic devices for biomedical applications.

Xiaotong Wang obtained his B.S. degree (2015)  and MPhil degree (2017) from Tsinghua University. He joined the group as a Research Assistant in January 2022 and become a Ph.D student in August 2022. His research is focusing on boiling heat transfer.

Chunlei Wei obtained her B.S. degree in Energy and Power Engineering from Xi'an Jiaotong University in 2022. In February 2023, she joined our group as a research assistant, specializing in the design and applications of flexible sensors. In August 2023, she began her Ph.D. studies, with her current research centered around the development of soft robotics utilizing intelligent materials.

Guanghua Zeng obtained his B.S. degree in Energy and Power Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2023. In August 2023, he began his Ph.D. studies, with his current research centered around the heat transfer in micronano scale.

Hao Tang

Dr. Hao Tang obtained his Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Physics from the City University of Hong Kong in May 2008.  In 2013, Dr. Tang joined the group as a postdoc. He was working on thermoelectric transport in topological insulator nanoribbons.

Qiang Fu

Dr. Qiang Fu received his B.S. degree (2008) in Mechanical and Automation Engineering, M.S. degree (2011) in Measuring and Testing Technologies and Instruments from Xi an Jiaotong University, and Ph.D. degree (2015) in Mechanical and Automation Engineering from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.  After graduation, he continues to work in the same group as Research Assistant.  His research focuses on Nanostuctured Thermoelectric Materials.

Xiaomeng Wang

Dr. Xiaomeng WANG received her B.S. degree (2011) in Energy Engineering from Zhejiang University. In 2011, she joined the group as a Ph.D student. Her research focuses on Thermal transport in one-dimensional nanostructured thermoelectric materials.

Wenhua Zhang

PhD student, 2013 - 2017

Dr. Wenhua Zhang received his B.S. degree (2013) in Energy Engineering from Zhejiang University. In August 2013, he joined the group as a Ph.D student. His research focused on synthesis and characterization of electroplated thermoelectric materials and development of high power density thermoelectric generators for wireless sensor network and wearable electronics applications.

Wangbin Zheng

PhD student, 2014 - 2017

Mr. Wangbin Zheng graduated from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2014 with a B.S. degree in Theoretics and Applied Mechanics.  His research involved thermoelectric transport in organic thin films.

Yajun Sun

Yajun Sun received his B.S. degree (2017) in Energy and Power Engineering from Huazhong University of Science & Technology. In Sep 2017, he joined the group as a RA. His research is focusing on setting up the test platform of measuring thermal interface materials and tuning thermal transport properties of one-dimensional nanostructures.

Yucheng Xiong received his B.S. degree (2013) in Energy and Power Engineering from Huazhong University of Science & Technology. In Aug 2013, he joined the group as a Ph.D. student. After graduation, he continues to work in the same group as a Research Assistant and a Postdoc Fellow. His research is focusing on tuning thermal transport properties of one-dimensional nanostructures.

Yi Liu

Mr. Yi Liu obtained his B.S. degree from the Department of Thermal and Power Engineering, Huazhong University of Sci.&Tch. in 2014. At the same year, he joined the Nano Energy Research Laboratory as a PhD student in the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on the enhancement of pool boiling performance with micro-structured surfaces.

Mr. Haoxiang Wei obtained his B.S. degree (2013) in Mechanical Engineering and Automation from Xi’an Jiaotong University and MPhil degree (2015) from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He joined the group as a Ph.D student in August 2016 and focuses on synthesis and characterization of nanostructured thermoelectric materials.  

Jiaqi Tang

Mr. Jiaqi Tang received his B.S. degree from the Department of Physics at Tsinghua University in 2015. In August 2016, he joined the group as a Ph.D student. His research focuses on flow boiling in microchannels.

Jian Zhang

PhD student, 2017 - 2022

Jian Zhang received his B.S. degree in Process Equipment and Control Engineering in Xi’an Jiaotong University in 2017. In August 2017, he joined the group as a Ph.D student. His research focuses on development of high power density thermoelectric generators for wireless sensor network and wearable electronics applications. 

Fengju Yao

Fengju Yao obtained her B.S. degree and Master degree from the Department of Energy Science and Engineering in Harbin Institute of Technology in 2015 and 2017, respectively. In March 2018, she joined the group as a RA. In August 2018, She became a Ph.D student. Her research is focusing on studying thermal transport characteristics of nanowires.
